Becoming a leader in the community for general dentistry required expanding into a new larger facility. With that requirement at hand, Cape Fear Smiles was faced with the task of implementing a new infrastructure to handle the next 20 or more years of growth.

Challenge

As owner and lead dentist of Cape Fear Smiles, Dr. Norma Cortez’s task was to have a larger new office built to handle the steady influx of new patients gained from her growing popularity as an expert in her field.

Cape Fear Smiles has steadily grown year after year starting out in a much smaller office built by retired Dr. Biggerstaff. Their popularity is quickly becoming known across New Hanover County.

Their need for an always-on system has become even more necessary as they constantly have a steady flow of patients and any moment of downtime can be bad. Especially when utilizing cloud voice over IP phones.

Solution

IPM Computers Owner Greg Rogers worked with Dr. Cortez and her staff beginning at the architectural drawing phase to help design the foundation of her system with proper CAT6A networking in all the right places.

Once construction got to the final phases, IPM Computers stepped in to run over 60 end-to-end color coded network drops with diagrams, install several wireless-AC access points, and 15 new computers, as well as move over the equipment from the previous office.

We utilized our full suite of cloud managed everything. Battery backup, power outlets, switches, routers, wifi, and backups are all managed by our in house technicians.

We also utilized our managed software services allowing us to keep all computers, servers, and networking equipment up to date as soon as updates become available. The enterprise grade anti-virus scans on a regular basis and reports back to us in real time with any issues that may arise. If anything were to occur, the technicians in our office have the ability to remote into every piece of equipment to troubleshoot and repair immediately.

Results

Opening day was successful with all systems go utilizing Spectrum internet for primary internet and Verizon 4G for fail over internet. We are now finishing our first month in the new office and it has maintained a perfect up time to date.

All minor adjustments have been minimal as expected but also immediately handled by our staff. Employees are satisfied with how everything has been implemented.

This office is ready to run for years to come.
